Program Oral Interpretation (POI) is a new event on the Texas speech circuit. Mostly known as a collegiate event, POI — like Poetry and Prose — is performed out of a black binder. This 10-minute maximum performance is, by its very name, always going to be a collection of works centered around a theme and/or argument. When constructing the script for performance, the performer must include at least two of the three genres of literature: prose, poetry, or drama. The performance will also include an introduction that lists all the titles and authors of the works to be performed and sets up the tones, themes, and arguments of the performance as a whole.
